Course Details
Times: 09:30hrs – 16:30hrs
Location: Kilrush Marina, V15 AD62
The aim of this course is to provide a short practical introduction to boat handling and safety on powerboats being used on all Irish waters. It is ideally suited to those looking for anyone new to powerboating and those whose primary role will be as crew on a powerboat. By the end of the course participants will be able to safely and effectively crew a powerboat and take the helm while under supervision.
The course is delivered on an open powerboat including a console planing RIB. Using the facilities at Kilrush Marina as a base, our courses offer the participant excellent training grounds with exercises conducted in the confines of the marina, as well as out on the tidal Shannon Estuary. The nature of the base we operate from even allows operating and use of automated lock gates which you would not otherwise experience elsewhere.
Skills learned on this course include:
- Selection of clothing and equipment for a boat
- Man Overboard Recovery
- Ropework
- Securing to a mooring
- Anchoring
- Safety on Board
- As crew, secure a boat to a pontoon or pier
- How to bring a boat safely onto the "plane"
- Much more!
Get ready to open a new world of adventure and start your powerboat journey with Atlantic Powerboating!
